Nowadays, the problem of choosing a practical car is relevant for those who want to have not only a supercar, but also a car for the whole family. Fortunately, automakers have a lot to offer these customers. Today, many well-known brands have lines that include powerful cars with spacious, practical interiors. For example, Mercedes has AMG models, BMW has a series of M models, Audi has S and RS models.
Audi's most notable model is the RS6, which arrived at the end of 2012. It is powered by a 4.0 liter V8 twin turbo engine. The car can comfortably accommodate five people. This model quickly became very popular among fans of practical supercars. Its power is 560 hp and its top speed is limited to 250 km / h. In order to take the children to school or go shopping in the store, this is enough. And really, what else is needed for those who appreciate large cars with spacious interiors and luxury equipment?
And this is where ABT Sportsline, a tuning studio specializing in the modification of Audi and Volkswagen models, comes into play. If you want to extract extra power from the car, make it more challenging, ABT engineers can do it. Nothing is impossible for them, these craftsmen can tune even a small aircraft carrier. And when Audi launched the RS6, these guys from the small German town of Kempten quickly got down to business. By the way, DTM racing cars are also created in the same division.
It took almost two years for the tuned ABT RS6-R to finally come out. This is a real muscle car, which is "packed" in a strict German body.
Exterior and main technical characteristics of Audi ABT RS6-R
The first thing ABT engineers started with was to add power to the car. It has been increased by 170 hp. All this became possible thanks to the installation of the ABT Power package. The on-board computer has undergone a major upgrade, the standard exhaust system has been supplemented with a forked pipe and a specially designed catalytic converter-converter.
For a car like the Audi RS6-R, good roadholding is very important, which is why it has a low stance and specially designed front and rear shock absorbers at ABT. In the tuning studio, the car was equipped with 22-inch DR wheels with a relief stylized as turbine blades. Dunlop tires were selected from a variety of options, the tread of which has 295 sections with sipes located at different angles.
Compared to the serial RS6, the performance of the tuned ABT RS6-R has increased significantly - power reached 730 hp and torque - 920 Nm. The car accelerated to 100 km / h in 3.3 seconds, 0.6 seconds faster than before. Just think, it was ahead of the Pagani Zonda F in this parameter! Modified by ABT craftsmen, the RS6-R still differs in its appearance from the factory model. The air vents on the front fenders are also of purely practical importance: through them, along with the air currents, the dirt that accumulates in the wheel arches is partially washed out. The ABT front spoiler protrudes much further, preventing a large volume of air from entering the underside of the vehicle. On both sides, the spoiler is completed by “wings” made of red fiber. By the way, all aerodynamic elements of the body - both the front splitter and the rear diffuser, as well as the large spoiler on the trunk lid are made of the same material. Even the rear bumper has integrated red carbon fiber inserts. The side skirts are custom too, with raised edges giving the RS6-R a sportier look.
The combination of red carbon fiber and black body color looks noble, but that's not all! Fine metallic particles are sprayed all over the body of the Audi, which sparkle like diamonds in bright sunlight. Unfortunately, photographs cannot convey all the splendor. The interior of the tuned Audi RS6-R is simply luxurious. Red hues can be traced here, as there are exactly the same carbon inserts as on the outer part of the body.
The newly upholstered chairs seem to have been taken from somewhere else! But despite this, they fit very organically into the interior of the RS6. The steering wheel is covered with Alcantara material. The ABT emblem on the steering wheel serves as a reminder that the driver is “holding the bull by the horns”. The red ABT logo can also be seen on the lever of the 8-speed automatic transmission.
The tweeters of your Bang & Olufsen sound system leave an incomparable sensation. When the engine is started, they automatically go up. Maybe that's why the cabin of this car is very similar to a spaceship.
Yes, ABT Audi RS6-R is the most unique of all supercars. But the reason for its uniqueness lies not in its technical characteristics, but in the fact that very few can purchase it. Although the price tag shows a modest amount of 200 thousand euros, only 25 copies of this model came out of the ABT tuning studio "into the world".
